Simple, striking and beautifully aged - it will make for a fantastic piece of kitchen / bar / man cave decor.
The sign was made in Brussels, Belgium is likely to date to the 1940s. A small, hanging sign that was meant to be displayed in restaurants / bar-tabacs etc. It's a shield shaped sign with embossed lettering and decorative details. Although it was probably displayed indoors, years of exposure to the sun has started to wear through the printed surface -particularly the upper left corner. Originally it would have had eye-catching gold foiling around the outer edge and across the word Bières but again large amounts of this has worn through to the bare metal which has, in turn, developed surface rust. All this in combination has given the sign a fantastic, genuine vintage aesthetic.
As well as the aforementioned weathering to the printed surface, there is slight creasing and some surface scratching but the sign displays very well, hanging from it's original chain.
It measures 48.5cm wide x 35cm high and the embossing makes it about 8mm thick.
