https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/ljw-antiquesWith it's simple design and vibrant colours, this BP Fuel enamel sign is a wonderfully striking piece.
This version of the BP (British Petroleum) logo was introduced in 1958 and the sign has a date marker for November 1960 - it must've been produced on the cusp of the switch over to cheaper paint-on-metal/plastic advertising formats so it's fairly unusual to see this later-logo in enamel.
The sign has survived the decades in very good order - the colours remain bright and it retains a fantastic surface gloss (see the angled photos where I've tried to show this). There's some slight rust discolouration along the top edge which would probably clean but I felt added to the sign's vintage authenticity, so left be. There's slight chipping to the enamel around the outer edges / mounting holes (mainly the lower two) but all in all - a great example.
It can be hung using it's original mounting holes, sits straight and displays well. It measures 55cm square.
