Item Details

This mid-century, Redgate Fruit Drinks tin sign has aged beautifully, developing a rich surface patina and a real vintage aesthetic. This sign was produced by Reginald Corfield Ltd of Lombard Road, London, SW19 for Redgate Ltd of Traffic Street, Nottingham. A larger than average, lithographically printed tin sign with a nicely detailed pictorial of one of the company's 'Orange Crush' bottles. It would appear that at some point, the sign has been varnished which has yellowed and shows the brush strokes, this in combination with a little surface corrosion and a few surface scratches has muted the signs colours and given it a real character without affecting the legibility of the sign, or even the label on the bottle! To the reverse we see care instructions printed along the top edge and the maker's details along the bottom - a copule of nice signs of authenticity (though in this instance, the way that the front has aged couldn't be reproduced!). The sign can be hung using it's original mounting holes and displays well. It measures 69cm high x 48.5cm wide.
