This style of engraved brass plaque would have originally had a coloured/black wax filling in the lettering - in this example, years of polishing has worn away the majority of the wax, though enough colour remains to keep the lettering clear and visible.

Probably dating from the early 20th century, the typography on this plaque has a lovely style with a great use of serifs and a particularly flamboyant 'D' in Dr.

The sign is generally good and flat and holds a decent shine, there are a few small knocks and surface scratches. It measures 30.5cm wide, 15cm high and is around 1.5mm thick.
