Item Details

This framed St John's Ambulance teaching aid would have originally taken the form of a rolled wall chart. It shows the Schafer’s method of resuscitation used from about 1910 until 1952 (the Holger Nielson method was used from 1953). The subject matter is wonderfully 'of the period' depicting the first aider wearing a shirt, tie and waistcoat! Printed onto a canvas and unrolled whenever the particular subject matter was required, these teaching aids often wore along the upper edge and became disconnected from their hanging battons as this one has. It has plenty of scuffs and creases and the varnished surface has yellowed over the decades - all just enough to give it that vintage look and feel without impacting on the subject matter. The poster is framed, glazed and ready to hang. Including the frame it measures 87cm high x 66.5cm wide x 2cm deep.
