Item Details

Ralph Fremlin founded the Fremlin's brewery in 1861 in Maidstone, Kent. It grew to become the largest in the county and it reigned strong until the 1960s.

Although a little niche, the Fremlin's elephant is iconic and signs depicting this mascot have a strong collector's following, attracting equally strong prices.

This heavily faded, tin (probably alloy) sign is probably one of the cheapest example's of the brewery's advertising you'll find. Dating to the 1960s, it's certainly lived a life ... a little of the red from the cloth remains and there's light crazing to the printed surface but the subject matter is unmistakeable and the piece displays well, albeit subtly.

The sign measures 46cm wide x 41cm high.
