This sign is likely to state to the 1930s/'40s ... Although there's no hard and fast rule, the two digit phone number puts this sign before the automation of phone exchanges in the 1950s. The sign was produced by Burnham of London.
These flange signs were designed to stick out from a building's frontage at a 90 degree angle - visible to people approaching from each direction ... These estate agent examples would have been transferred between the agencies properties (much nicer than the corrugated plastic we have today!) and subsequently often look a little 'worse for wear' but this example has survived it's usage and the subsequent decades in very good order. There is a single hole through the centre of the sign and some nibbling around the edges but otherwise both faces are in reasonable order and the original flange remains present and functional. The sign retains a reasonable amount of gloss - see the angled photos where I've tried to reflect this.
It measures 46cm wide x 36cm high and the flange is 5cm deep.
