https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/ljw-antiquesAn absolutely gorgeous survivor - this little watercolour painting is an artists proof / concept for a Melotte Separators advertising poster.
It's likely that this piece was produced around the 1920s, I've not been able to find any posters of this exact design so I would assume that this proof never made it off the drawing board, but posters of a similar style can be found.
Melotte Separators were designed and made in Belgium and retailed in the UK by the Bristol based company; Melotte Separator Sales Co.
On first inspection it'd be easy to assume that you were just looking at a small scale printed advertisement, but closer inspection reveals that this is something a whole lot more special; skilfully done and unique.... The painting has been very competently done with remarkably clear, crisp lettering; a heavily worked design, not just a rough sketch.
"A child can work any size" - what an of-the-period claim!
The piece is displayed in a simple, period oak frame and measures 27cm high x 22cm wide.
