Item Details

Personally, these mid-century travel posters are about as joyous as it gets with vibrant colours and quirky graphics - they're simple, eye catching and just fun.

This poster is likely to date to the 1950s and was produced by the Co-operative Travel Service (part of the Co-operative Wholesale Society - CWS Ltd) to advertise their 'Motor Coach Holidays'. This particular offering being an impressive 8 countries in 13 days and with no overnight travel - good going even by today's standards. This is made complete with an illustration of a wonderfully retro brown and yellow painted coach wearing sunglasses (or swimming goggles?) that reflect a mountain scene - love it.

I've not encountered this poster before and can't find any of the same online so would say that it was a fairly rare survivor. It's in decent condition, there are a few creases / small tears and some patches of discolouration - especially along the very top edge - all reasonable enough with an original piece of ephemera; intended to be displayed for a period and then discarded. It's been professionally framed and glazed and is ready to hang. Although modern framing, the poster has been in this frame for a number of years and the frame does have a few small marks; only really noticeable on close inspection.

It measures 77.5cm high x 52cm wide x 1.5cm deep.
