Item Details
The Lion Rampant is considered to be the symbol of Scotland's royalty. A beautifully stylised version of it is found painted on this wooden flag holder inscribed to the reverse 'Scotch Std' and perhaps made for display during a royal event such as a coronation.
It probably dates to the early 20th century and shows fairly heavy signs of wear, with the painted surface dirtied, scuffed and scratched and a split between the wooden boards - although this could be improved upon I love the feel of faded grandeur that it's bought to this piece; dark and rich with the details still there upon closer inspection.
The piece measures 91cm high x 67cm wide x 5cm deep.
