https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/ljw-antiquesAnchor Tea isn't a brand I've encountered in other signage, posters or tins before nor can I find any notable mention online. Presumably the company was bought out by one of the larger brands early on - a shame as their 'Purity & Strength' anchor Trade Mark is absolutely fantastic.
From its styling, this vibrant showcard likely dates to the early 20th century. The piece was produced by London printers Hickson Ward & Co and has survived the decades well with the colours remaining deep and vibrant. It's probable that the left / right sides have been trimmed down; they're not perfectly straight and are lacking the golden border seen on the top / bottom edges - it can't have been reduced by much as the main image hasn't been encroached upon and the composition remains centred etc. Curiously a print of a costal scene has been pasted to the reverse - presumably this showcard repurposed as a backing board at some point in it's life - mercifully they glued to the reverse!
Certainly a rare survivor, the piece measures 48cm wide x 38cm high.
