Item Details

Champion's simple red and black colour scheme makes up part of their iconic brand and mid-century marketing. They sponsored a range of Motorsport and in combination with heavy branding made themselves the most recognisable brand of spark plug in the middle of the 20th century.

This is a lovely embossed and lithographically printed tin (not enamel) sign that was produced in the USA and probably dates to the late '50s / '60s. These printed tin signs are inherently more vulnerable than their enamel conterparts and this sign does have various dents, scuffs and scratches but in my opinion these add to the character of the piece without impacting the legibility of it. The spark plug graphic to the left is wonderfully detailed with fantastic use of shading / highlights to help give it form. Original maker's marks are present in the lower corners and what looks to be the remains of the distributor's stamp in the lower left.
