Item Details

This White Horse Whisky advertising mirror is a lovely, smaller sized piece. Likely to date to around the 1920s, it was manufactured by mirror and show-card manufacturers Forrest & Son of Glasgow (see last image of their factory!). As you'd expect for such a large, specialised manufacturers, it's fantastic quality - reverse printed / gilded lettering and imagery, bevelled edges and a wooden backing.

White Horse Whisky is a blended Scotch whisky that was first produced in the late 19th century. It's popularity soared after WW2 and there's no shortage of advertising figurines, trays, jugs, mirrors etc from the 1950s-'70s. This piece is a fair chunk earlier than most advertising that you'll find for the brand.

It's survived the decades in decent order; the mirror plate has yellowed slightly and there's some foxing / lifting below the writing but generally this would have to be considered to add to the piece's antique look without impacting on it's legibility.

It can be hung using its original mounting hook and displays well. It measures 25.5cm high x 20cm wide.
