This is an antique 5-draw telescope. An English, brass terrestrial or astrological refractor by Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.


Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky



  • Striking length when fully drawn, with a fine brass finish

  • Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order

  • Quality polished brass shows delightful golden brass hues

  • Primary barrel dressed in a later, faux crocodile leather



  • Fascinating 5-draw type, drawing from a usefully compact length of 29cm (11.5'')

  • Fully drawn with the sun shade extended, the length is over 3' (43.75'')

  • Clear, bright objective lens with a generous diameter of 60mm (2.25")

  • The flared eyepiece finished with concentric ring turning



  • Engraved to the penultimate barrel for Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co of London

  • Dealer engraving to the opposite side for H Salanson & Co of Bristol and Cardiff

  • Focus tube engraved with numerals from 30 through to 60 in order of tens

  • Supplied with a London Fine oak and brass Captains Stand for display


This is a superb antique telescope, of exceptional drawn proportion and graced with beautifully polished brightwork. As good to use today as it was over a hundred years ago. Delivered ready for use or display.
