This is a large pair of antique garden planters. An English, cast iron outdoor display urn from the time of the Great Exhibition, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850.


Excellent early Victorian display pieces, ideal for a grand garden setting
Presenting a desirable aged patina and in authentic, time-worn order
Impressively weathered from a century and a half of outdoor display
Substantial cast iron, with naturally weathered finish in a palette of browns and greys


Egg and dart relief casting accentuates the broad, flared rim
Urn form detailed around the circumference and upon the collars
Stood upon gently tapered plinths, with raised sections for the urn to rest against
In two parts for ease of placement, the urn and plinth weigh a combined 63kg (138.9 lb)
Both the urn and plinth featuring drainage for planter use
