This is a pair of antique recumbent lions. An English, hand painted ceramic animal figure or decorative book end, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.


Charming Victorian figures, of substantial form and superb colour
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Quality glazed ceramic with fine detail and personality
Palette of warm amber, yellow green and brown applied by hand


Glass eyes add an appealing decorative touch
Good weight in the hand at 3kg (6.6 lb) - could be useful as doorstops
Also suited to use as distinctive bookends for larger volumes
