This is vintage planter on stand duo. A Japanese, ceramic fishbowl jardiniere, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1940.

Generously proportioned cousin duo in the Satsuma manner
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Broad ceramic fish bowl forms with handpainted figural decor
Distinctive mahogany stands show deep russet hues

Distinct decor to each bowl, but in a close figural theme
Profusely decorated, each bowl with a ground in a deep cream hue
Fascia accentuated with handpainted figural scenes and incidental patternwork
One bowl enhanced with moriage detailing, typical of the Satsuma style

Upper rims hosting charming foliate motif to each bowl
Superb interiors painted with colourful Shubunkin fish amongst sea flora
