This is a vintage sun ray back elbow chair. A French, beech morning room armchair in Georgian revival taste, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1940.



  • Fascinating revival piece, with a striking back rest and fine colour

  • Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order

  • Beech stocks show fine grain interest and rich caramel hues

  • Superb back rest with distinctive sun ray motif, set within a bowed oval frame

  • Serpentine arms fall away to carved knuckles and raised on curved supports

  • Traditionally stuffed cushion, with a wide setting and at a comfortable height of 49.5cm (19.5'')

  • Raised upon square tapered front legs with spade feet, and splayed legs to rear
