Antique French Suroy Textile Storage Tote Box


A fabulous original Suroy fibreboard storage box salvaged from a linen factory in Northern France. It has the original marked Suroy Lion brand and wooden base.


The Suroy Factory was an industrial manufacturing company founded in 1902 in Loos, Northern France. A brand born out of the nineteenth century textile industrial revolution in Northern France. It met the local textile factories needs for hard wearing containers to store raw textile materials. Suroy developed heavily riveted containers like this one with smooth, rounded corners which were specifically designed to avoid snagging yarn.


Today this container is an ideal storage solution for logs, shoes, toys or as a film prop.

Workshop Report: The box is structurally sound. There is some wear to parts of the fibreboard in places and a few nicks in the board which gives it more character.


As with all our products, this product is an original vintage item so there are signs of wear from use.
