Antique Comb Back Windsor Arm Chair


A beautiful elegant English Windsor arm chair. It has a lovely wide saddle shaped elm seat making it very comfortable. The ash turned spindles and single piece comb back and a crinoline stretcher base indicate this chair would have had a more elaborate historical usage. The braced back provides extra support to the comb back.


The Windsor chair is a design classic. The first Windsors were of the comb back variety. By the 18th century steam bending was being used to produce the characteristic “bow” of the Windsor chair. The first chairs made this way were shipped to London from Windsor, Berkshire in 1724.


The perfect chair to bring a farmhouse look to a room.
