Antique Wooden Trunk Storage Chest Blanket Box


An original antique wooden pine chest formerly used as a travel trunk. The trunk has metal studded initials on the top which was a common 19th and early 20th century method used by travellers to personalise their luggage so they could easily identify it at ports, train stations, or on a steamship.


The trunk retains its original metal carry handles at either side and has a World War II ‘On His Majesty’s Service’ 1945 envelope label on the front. The trunk has wear in places giving it a nice patina. There is a lock but no key.
