1940’s Long French Oak Farmhouse Table – White Painted Top
1940’s Long French Oak Farmhouse Table – White Painted Top. We bought this table for it’s three metre length, its elegant proportions and the unusual painted top. The base and frame of the table are made from solid doweled oak. The top is pitch pine and was originally covered in oil cloth and crudely tacked on all sides. At some stage in its life the oil loth has been removed and the top crudely painted white. We bought it like this and we have kept it like this. The table is a long slim elegant size, the support rail is slim so kneed height clearance is a practical 60cm. We love the contrast of the dark oak base with the bright white top and we love the visual impact of the original tack marks around the edge.
