1940's Planked Very Large Poplar French Farmhouse Table - 3.7m. Sourced in the Aquitaine region of Western France, this is a substantial, heavy and very large table. A classic original French farmhouse table. The table is made entirely of solid Poplar wood, the top is made of five long one piece planks of poplar, a straight grained and fairly unfigured wood. The top planks are held steady by a number of original bolt sunk through the top planks. The top has an extraordinary colour and character. The base is completely solid poplar with large heavy rails and sub frame, all fully doweled. The table has a small single drawer not original, but it came like this so we have left it with the table. The feet have suffered from sitting on a damp floor and have been capped at some stage, an honest and standard repair for a farmhouse table. A statement table, heavy and with extraordinary character.
