1940’s Thonet Original Square Hoop Back Bentwood Dining Chairs – Set Of Four.


Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is an extraordinary set of original branded chairs with a very rich colour and character in exceptional condition. The chairs have the distinctive square hoop classic back. The chairs have been gently refurbished in our own workshops and are in excellent working condition. The chairs are made in the classic bentwood style of early Thonet pieces with decorative use of hooped forms showcasing the exceptional craft of the Thonet process.
