1940's Warm Oak Classic Bentwood Dining Chair. Good quality batch of classic bentwood dining chairs with a classic shape and good oak colour. At the beginning of the 20th Century there were two (amongst others) competing bentwood producers, J&J Kohn and Mundus. Both produced chairs in various factories throughout the Austro Hungarian empire. Undoubtedly due to a combination of commercial pressure from the market leading producer Thonet and the political upheaval of the time, the firms merged in 1914. Beautiful surviving and fascinating chairs, all our chairs pass through our own workshop where they are gently serviced, cleaned and waxed.
