1950’s Classic Spindle Bentwood Dining Chairs – Mundus – Set Of Four. At the beginning of the 20th Century their were two (amongst others) competing bentwood producers, J&J Kohn and Mundus. Both produced chairs in various factories throughout the Austro Hungarian empire. Undoubtedly due to a combination of commercial pressure from the market leading producer Thonet and the political upheaval of the time, the firms merged in 1914. Beautiful surviving and fascinating chairs, this is a set of four chairs in excellent condition. As they were handmade, the dimensions are never the same chair to chair. In this set one of the chairs is a smidge smaller than the rest. All our chairs pass through our own workshop where they are gently serviced and sensitively restored, we only sell vintage of excellent quality.
