1960’s Good Sized Mid Century Four Drawer Chest – Drevotvar. Superb practical piece of mid century storage by the Czech maker Up Zavody. Produced by Drevotvar in the Czech Republic. Czech design will always be affiliated to the Bauhaus movement which inspired a generation of design and industrial production in Czechia principally during the second half of the 20th Century with producers such as Ton and Up Zavody amongst many others. Drevotvar began as a cooperative of seventeen craftsman in Dělnický klub in Jablonné near Orlicí in 1951 and is still producing furniture today. The main cabinet is made from well figured birch, the drawer boxes are acrylic and run well on beech runners. The whole cabinet is beautifully made sitting on ebonised A frame legs. Our workshop has gently restored the cabinet so all drawers and run well and the cabinet is in good original condition.
