Description
A brass marine stick barometer with a long cylindrical body, glazed upper scale and articulated gimbal wall mount. The dark brown patina of the casing contrasts with the lighter brass mounting rings and cream-coloured scale.


The scale features English weather indications, from “Very Dry” and “Set Fair” to “Rain” and “Stormy”, alongside a numbered scale running from 27 to 31. Beneath the weather markings is the inscription “J.J.B.L.M / 16 a 22 / R.N. Desterro / Lisbon”.


The instrument has a suspension ring at the top, a cylindrical lower reservoir housing and a circular wall plate with fixing holes. Its elongated form and exposed mechanical fittings give it a distinctive nautical and scientific character.


Condition:
Visible surface wear, scratches, tarnishing and localised green oxidation to the metalwork. Discolouration and marks to the scale. Working condition, calibration and completeness have not been verified.
