An unusual wall shelf unit from a French apothecary’s shop. The four staggered waterfall shelves are supported by wooden columns in the Doric style. So although it’s a utilitarian piece, the decorative column detail references the Empire style, which was so popular in France throughout the 19^th century. The triangular pediment is also in the classical style. The pediment is in flame mahogany, while the shelves are in a more rustic oak.

 This is a fairly heavy item, so it requires robust wall fixings. It would look great in a retail setting again, but it would also be an impressive storage/display piece in a private home.
