Item Details

A beautiful piece of 18th Century European history, a little hand carved marriage chest.

Hand carved with geometric symbols including the hexafoil or Polish six point rosette; a symbol associated with good luck and protection. The box has it's metal hinges and the lower part of the locking clasp, and shows the vivid remnants of the original red and green decorative paint finish.

Just a charming and still useful piece of folk art with a beautifully worn, tactile finish.
