Item Description

A well-presented antique mahogany bookcase with an inset writing surface. It has moulded a cornice supported by two decorative carved corbels. The arched glazed doors open to reveal a spacious interior of three adjustable height shelves. At the mid-section this bookcase splits into two parts for ease of transport. The lower section begins with a fall front drawer. This opens to reveal an inset leather writing surface as well as several pigeonholes, flanked by three small drawers. Sitting underneath this are two single blind panel doors, opening to reveal a single fitted shelf. Raised on a plinth base. Also, to the back is a maker’s stamp, that of ‘Robertson & Sons’. Additionally, this piece is complete with working locks and a key. This key serves as a handle when inserted, opening one of the glazed doors, the other can be opened with the catch towards the bottom. Similarly, the key works on the cupboard section, where the other door can also be opened via the catch at the bottom. There is also a working lock and key to the drawer.
