Item Description
Either the most elaborate and oversized picture frame or a window into another world.
Large hand-carved oak overmantel with ionic columns on either side, a heraldic shield, naturalistic floral details and a banner below dating the piece to 1897 in Roman Numerals along with the initials ‘KA’.
Original oil on canvas painting titled verso ‘Running down the North East Trades’ and indistinctly signed.
Seems to have been painted in situ as the paint only goes up to the edge of the frame. rather than covering the entire canvas.
Everything is in good vintage order, there is some wear commensurate with age but no significant or structural issues. The painting has some craquelure to the surface.
Overall measurements: 166cm wide x 120cm high x 29cm deep.
