Item Description

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BLUE AND WHITE CHINA TEAPOT

Part of a range of china by Copeland Spode which celebrated the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns.

This example features lyrics around the rim from the famous song Auld Lang Syne, “WE’LL TAK A CUP O’KINDNESS YET FOR DAYS O’OLD LANG SYNE”.

Chinese blue and white decoration with Chinese dragons and a foo dog handle on the lid and gilt trim.

Impressed stamp underneath for ‘COPELAND’ as well as a diamond registration mark which dates to 7th January 1879.

The teapot is in great vintage condition with wear commensurate with age. There is a small flea bite to the gilding on the end of the spout. There also appears to be a believed firing fault underneath where the handle meets the main pot on the upper part of the handle.

This model teapot was available in a few different size variations, we believe this was the largest size available.

Approximate measurements 28cm wide (spout to handle) x 20cm deep x 17cm high.
