ANTIQUE SHIP DIORAMA


A scratch built folk art model of a three masted British ship, possibly a barque rigged clipper hybrid.


Fully rigged with white sails, a hand painted hull and wonderful details including a brass anchor, lifeboat/tender, red Union Jack ensign as well as other triangular pennant/signal flags on the masts.


Displayed in full sail and at sea with a simple and stylish hand painted slightly moody seascape backdrop.Sitting on a textured and hand painted base to emulate the waves of a choppy sea.


In its original glazed case with a parcel gilt and pitch pine frame with the most amazing rich and lively grain .


Probably dating from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1860s-1890s in date.


The diorama is in great vintage condition with some wear commensurate with age throughout but no serious issues.
