ANTIQUE ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS CAT PAINTING


A stylish composition depicting two fluffy white pedigree Turkish Angora cats, one with blue and one with amber eyes, both sitting on a grey blanket against a black background..


Expertly painted by a talented hand, on close inspection the brushstrokes are quick, confident and almost impressionistic but when viewed as a whole standing back the artist has managed to capture the individual characteristics of each cat as well as the light and shade with great skill.


The painting is unsigned but is very much in the style of Arthur Heyer (1872-1931), a Hungarian/German artist well known for animal painting and in particular white Angora cats.


Framed in a later, yet complimentary gilt frame.


The painting is in good vintage condition with minor wear commensurate with age and some craquelure mainly on the black background. At some point in its life, possibly when it was framed it appears that the original canvas has been re-stretched over later wooden stretchers.
