An antique captain’s chair.


This English elm smoker’s bow (or elbow) seat, dating to the late Victorian period, oozes superb country house appeal with lovely figuring and fine grain interest throughout the desirable aged patina is full of lush caramel hues.


The classic upper rail is crowned with a prominent arched back rest for added comfort and support and ring turned spindles supporting the striking horseshoe armrest, standing upon a quartet of stout baluster legs supported by a ‘H’ stretcher.


This is a wonderful antique captain’s chair, a classic example of English craftsmanship with solid joints and sturdy construction.


There are two spindles missing – reflected in the price.
