Item Details

Vintage African sculpture from the Kota Peoples, Mahongwe Group of Gabon, Congo. A highly abstract form which consists of a wooden figural sculpture that is encased in ropework, with decorative metal appliques, and mounted on a carved wooden stand. The sculpture can be read as a face composed of radically simplified features, at the center are projecting eyes defined by brass bosses and a triangular copper nose.
Good vintage condition with cosmetic signs of age and use.
