Early 20th century oil painting on wood panel. Inscribed verso possibly attributing the work to German artist Bernhard Schneider-Blumberg (1881 - 1956) A beautiful portrait - likely depicting Joan of Arc - exquisitely painted with great sensitivity. The artist has created a sense of luminescent colour to the skin tones contrasting with the rich deep coloured ground. Displays beautifully horizontally or vertically.
Good condition with a few minor surface blemishes and scratches plus a few small chips to the panel edges.
