Item Details

An elegant rocking chair with historic red paint,  C1940.  The seat and back are woven with hickory bark splints, a craft deeply rooted in indigenous American cultures.  It involves splitting the bark of hickory trees into thin, flexible strips (splints) and then weaving them together to form different shapes and patterns.  This piece is in good vintage condition, showing some light age to its surface.
