Style: Discover this stunning set of French four nesting tables, each a unique work of art featuring exquisite hand-painted oriental design of cranes, bamboo leaves and flowers in green and gold. Delicate gilt highlights on table surfaces and side panels accentuate the intricate details of these decorative vignettes, ensuring every table top tells its own story. Each table elegantly supported by turned gilded uprights, crafted to resemble graceful faux bamboo, which flow down to a beautifully shaped stand. The three largest tables feature a discreet rear stretcher for added stability.


Story: The innovative concept of nesting tables, originally termed "quartetto tables" by their designer Thomas Sheraton, debuted in the late 1700s. Conceived as a practical solution for smaller living spaces, they cleverly allowed several tables to be stored efficiently within the space of one. Their appeal broadened when European designers began adorning them with the fashionable chinoiserie style. This transformation elevated them into highly desirable pieces, merging practicality with exotic, ornamental luxury.
