Item Details

Style: A large impressionist oil on canvas from the late 19th century depicts a lavish arrangement of fragrant purple and white lilacs. Abundant blooms cascade from a beautifully detailed and decorated vase. Unframed and signed 'Kolb'. 


Story: German artist Augustin Kolb (1869-1942) was an impressionist and post-impressionist artist. He was well known as a painter of frescoes and murals in places of worship. His first artistic success took place in 1893 painting inside the parish church of St Peters and Paul in Grießen.
