https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/style-story-interiorsStyle: Unique one of a kind early 19th-century Dutch tobacco jar, a charming piece artfully turned from wood with it's Hindeloopen style design. Its surface bursts with vibrant hand painted folk art designs of flowers, leaves and scrolls, in a faded red salmon colour beautifully offset by shimmering gilded details.
Story: Dutch wooden tobacco jars were used to store tobacco, especially snuff up until the 20th century. The Hindeloopen style gets its name from a 17th-century Frisian harbor village in the Netherlands. Renowned for its unique woodcarving tradition, the style features dense patterns of acanthus scrolls complemented by blossoms such as tulips, chrysanthemums, roses, poppies, and daisies.
