Item Details

Style: A classic academic charcoal study on paper depicting an antique sculptural figure. This traditional artwork meticulously captures human anatomy, muscle definition, and dramatic tonal shading. Presented behind glass in a simple, stepped black painted wooden frame complete with hanging wire. Signed and dated 1948 by the artist.

Story: This appears to depict the famous ancient Greek sculpture Diadumenos. It is an example of the plaster casts of damaged classical torsos that European art academies once produced and sold to schools for instructional use.
