Item Details

Style: Signed and dated 1947, this soft impressionist painting by Guinegault captures a kneeling ballerina in a white tutu adjusting her pointe shoes. Featuring expressive brushwork that highlights the dancer's pose and tulle skirt, the atmospheric piece is presented in a mid-century modern gilt wood frame (though equally striking unframed). There is some wear around the edges from being framed and a tiny hole in the canvas (pictured).

Story: Georges Pierre Guinegault was a prominent French painter celebrated for his elegant mid-century portraits, gernre scenes, and romantic depictions of women and dancers. He was highly regarded for his fluid, impressionist brushwork and masterly use of light.
