Item Details

Style: Steeped in the brutalist aesthetic of the 1950's, these rare lanterns by 'The House of Peter Marsh' of Birmingham, England are more than just lighting - they are sculptural works of art. Each piece is heavy and substantial, blending the raw texture of hammered tin with the jewel toned brilliance of hand set chunks of glass in lead. The tin roofs carry a charming, rustic patina from their time outdoors, yet both lanterns are remarkably well preserved. Not wired. H 24cm W Top 21cm Base 14cm

Story: Since 1949, Peter Marsh Lighting of Birmingham became known for its creative approach to lamp design. Marsh’s hallmark style involved embedding chunks of vibrant, multicoloured glass into lead and steel frames. This aesthetic was showcased in his house shaped lamps, as well as hexagonal and pyramid designs.
