Item Details

Style: Steeped in French charm, this pair of striking 19th century low side chairs features intricate bobbin turning and a dramatic ebonised black finish, with a lovely burnished patina. Solid and sturdy, upholstered in a crisp cream calico, they offer a blank canvas for custom fabric, though they look striking in their current neutral state. Some very small repairs on a couple of the stretchers. Seat height 35cm.

Story: Rooted in a 19th century revival of 17th century Jacobean and cottage aesthetics, French bobbin turned low side and fireside chairs brought vernacular charm back into fashion.
