Item Details

Style: A magnificent pair of 19th-century Empire style candelabra. Constructed primarily of gilt bronze, each piece features five highly ornate arms flanking a central marble column. Rich amber-coloured marble forms the mid-section and the solid base supported by lion paw 'pieds de lion' feet. It's highly probable that this stunning pair once stood on either side of a perfectly matched clock. Note: The marble bases have undergone several historical repairs.


Story: French candelabras evolved from simple candle holders into elaborate symbols of status and wealth. Their designs distinctly reflected major artistic periods, masterfully crafted from materials like gilded bronze (ormolu), gleaming silver, and sparkling crystal.
