Item Description
An exquisite Queen Anne style mirror, circa 1930's, showcasing a beautifully gilt-framed design with elegant, sweeping lines. Recently fitted with a new mirror and featuring charming brass castors, this would take pride of place in any stylish/dressing bedroom, or a clothing shop fitting room.
Emerging in the in the late 18th century, the cheval glass was a full length mirror designed for adjustability. Swivel screws allowed it to be tilted to any desired angle while lead counter weights and a pulley system (horse being an archaic term for pulley) enabled height adjustments - hence the name cheval.
