Style: A charming, small but heavy Victorian‑era French cast iron bird bath exquisitely shaped. The base showcases a characteristic 19th‑century French design, and the piece is in two parts: a generous basin crowned with two delicate bird figures. Patina, peeling paint and the extensive rust that speak to years of weathering only enhance its historic allure. In addition to measurements below, the base is 19cm diam.


Story: Victorian birdbaths, emerging in the 1840s with middle-class gardens, became ornamental symbols of a nature connection amid industrialisation, crafted from stone, terracotta, or cast iron, often adorned with cherubs or shells, blending romanticism with mass-produced garden art.
