Style: A striking and rare Victorian reverse etched “Private Bar” sign, embellished with a bold bull/bison advertising motif. The heavy, solidly built piece is expertly framed, making it a standout decorative element for any collection or interior.


Story: Private bar mirrors, etched advertising mirrors, originated in the Victorian era. They were also called “snob screens”. Firms such as the Brilliant Sign Company turned them into sponsored decorative pieces. Brewers and distillers supplied pubs with ornate, gilded or etched mirrors as gifts in exchange for prominent advertising space.
